Episode 36
Procrastinating artist? Or just bored? /36
See Michele's stunning exhibition Shared Wavelengths online at Fenton&Fenton Gallery.
---
Michele surprises Bec by saying her biggest artist challenges have not come from being a ‘bad’ artist, but from being a bored artist… and that procrastination, unfinished work or losing faith half-way through may all be big indicators that boredom is holding you back in the studio.
Boredom? Who has the time (and luxury) to be bored when we all feel so damn busy all the time? But that busy-ness means that not only do we miss the signs that boredom may be impacting our art practice, we also rush through the kind of fundamental processes that keep us engaged and keep our work fresh.
Lots of thoughts on why this happens, how to recognise such blocks in our creative flow, and what to do about it—including what Michele and Bec have been doing to get new perspectives on their own work.
